Shrimp
The tips of the first two walking leg pairs carry pincers, or chelae. There are species in which both pincer
pairs have been transformed into fans. If there are no fans, the chelae on the second leg pair are always the
stronger ones.
Crayfish
There are chelae on the tips of the first three walking leg pairs. The chelae on the first pairs always form large
“crayfish claws”. The second and third leg pairs carry simple small pincers, the remaining two walking leg
pairs end in a thorn.
