In 2010 Dähne Verlag is celebrating the company’s 40th anniversary with numerous special publications and activities. The publisher’s threefold motto for the anniversary year: ‘professional, versatile, international’.

Company

The publishing house of Dähne was founded in 1970. Having grown up in the do-it-yourself market, the specialist publishers have since continued to expand their spectrum of publications until they are now active in the garden, timber and pet sectors, as well as the areas of aquatics and garden ponds.

The publishing programme comprises eight magazines with regular supplements and industry statistics, seven internet portals, and numerous other publications, which include trade directories and mailing lists, buyers' guides and a full book division.

The specialist publishers regard themselves as information service providers with a good eye for data and information on the German and international market in Europe and overseas. Two consumer titles are also included in the programme alongside the trade publications.
The publishing house of Dähne with its associated subsidiary companies has been run as a family business right from the start, and is now in the hands of the second generation.

DIY

The specialist magazines diy and DIY International, with their regular supplements and industry statistics, are published by Dähne for the do-it-yourself sector, and the Dähne Informationsdienst also serves this sector. In addition, the publishing programme covers trade directories and mailing lists for DIY superstores and garden centres, plus buyers' guides, trade fair guides and two internet services.

PETS

The specialist magazines pet and PET worldwide from Dähne report on German and European pet products and the garden sector. They also include regular supplements and industry statistics. In addition, the publishers offer trade directories and mailing lists for pet retailers, plus buyers' guide and two internet services. And they stage a pet conference, the Heimtierkongress, every year as well.

TIMBER

Dähne publishers are represented in the wood sector by the trade magazine HOLZFORUM, which is read in both commercial and industrial circles. The publishers also run an internet service for up-to-date information on the sector.

AQUATICS

The consumer magazine Aquaristik is another publication from Dähne, this one aimed at aquarium enthusiasts. It has its own website as well. Over and above this, the publishers' commitment to fishkeeping as a hobby is evident in its book programme of around 50 titles, which is expanded by several new publications every year.

As an addition to our list of aquarium literature we launched a German-language magazine on freshwater invertebrates in 2006: Caridina - Garnele, Krebs & Co.

GARDEN PONDS

Gartenteich is yet another Dähne product, a consumer magazine that deals with the subject of garden ponds. Some of the titles in the book programme, too, concentrate on the same subject.
